About Us and

Our Philosophy

We are a privately owned company that was established in March 2010. Rockcliffe Children's Centre was originally established in 1996. We have two sister centres located in Kilbride and Goulds areas. They are Discovery Days Children's Centre and Creative Discovery Children's Centre. Our Centre is licensed under the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development Division. As a licensed child care centre we are required to follow and adhere to the Childcare Services Acts and Regulations.

At Rockcliffe Children's Centre, our goal is to provide a developmentally appropriate program that will meet the needs and interests of each individual child. We promote a developmentally sound program that is implemented through staff /child interactions, observations, program planning and out fully equipped and developed play areas. We strive to provide a stimulating and supportive environment designed for all stages of development.

The core of our program is play. Play develops physical and intellectual skills, promotes emotional health and creativity and helps children get along with others. We strongly believe that all children are active learners and they need freedom to explore and experiment with their environment. The daily schedule allows for large segments of time to permit the children to explore and investigate their surroundings. The staff prepares the environment by organizing learning centres that stimulate children's interests, foster children's curiosity and desire to learn. It provides many learning opportunities that enrich and enhance each child's cognitive language, social, emotional, physical and creative development with direct access and free choice of materials. Continuous open communication between families and staff is encouraged so the needs of the child and families are met in the best possible way.

Within the Centre's daily schedule, each child's has opportunities to create, explore the environment, learn problem solving and personal interaction skills, and learn concepts through first hand experiences. Children will have time to explore the playroom and outdoor environment materials and practice their use. Children develop a positive self-concept through a balance of self and staff directed activities. Opportunities for solidary play as well as group activities are also provided.

We respect all forms of families in today's society. Families are respected for their individual differences, personal circumstances and religious values. All parents are encouraged to communicate any concerns, difficulties or special events with staff. High quality childcare supports families making lives enjoyable, meaningful and positive.
